Willem Aalten was born on January 6th, 1772 in Hierden and his baptism took place on March 21st, 1773 in Harderwijk.1  Willem Aalten's father was Aalt Brandszn van den Broek and his mother was Bartje Jansdr N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Brand Geurtszn van den Broek and Hendrikjen Willemsdr Timmer. He had four brothers and a sister, named Brand, Jan Aalten, Hendrik Aalten, Klaas Aalten and Dirkje Aaltsdr.  He was the fifth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 92 on February 2nd, 1864 in Ermelo.2
