Klaas Aalten was born in September 1770 in Harderwijk and his baptism took place there on September 2nd, 1770.1  Klaas Aalten's father was Aalt Brandszn van den Broek and his mother was Bartje Jansdr N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Brand Geurtszn van den Broek and Hendrikjen Willemsdr Timmer. He had four brothers and a sister, named Brand, Jan Aalten, Hendrik Aalten, Willem Aalten and Dirkje Aaltsdr.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.
