Jan was born in 1727 and his baptism took place on June 1st, 1727 in Haaften.1   His godmother was/is Maria Jansdr. Jan's father was Steven Gompertszn Blomhert and his mother is Dirkske Otten Swakhuijs.  His paternal grandparents were Gompert Egbertszn Blomhert and Maria Koenen. He has five brothers and seven sisters, named Gompert, Ot, Ott, Egbert, Willem, Ruttje, Mariken, Ruttie, Neeltjen, Willemke, Heesken and Heesken.  He is the eleventh oldest of the thirteen children.
