Egbert was born in 1724 and his baptism took place on May 21st, 1724 in Haaften.1  Egbert's father was Steven Gompertszn Blomhert and his mother is Dirkske Otten Swakhuijs.  His paternal grandparents were Gompert Egbertszn Blomhert and Maria Koenen. He has five brothers and seven sisters, named Gompert, Ot, Ott, Jan, Willem, Ruttje, Mariken, Ruttie, Neeltjen, Willemke, Heesken and Heesken.  He is the tenth oldest of the thirteen children.
