Solomon Heiser

Solomon was born on August 13th, 1871 in Spitalfields.¹ Solomon's father was Abraham Heiser and his mother was Sarah Levy. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Heiser and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Barnett (Judah) Levy and Elizabeth Levy. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, Michael, Reuben, Harris, Joseph, David, Lewis, Miriam, Julia, Rosa, Betsy and Priscilla. He was the eleventh oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 86 on March 12th, 1958 in Finchley.¹

  Solomon Heiser (1872-1958) was a teacher at the Jews' Free School in Bell Lane for over forty years and was editor of the Jews' Free School Magazine. He began his career as a pupil teacher and retired in 1931. He was also headmaster of the Stoke Newington Synagogue Hebrew Classes in Shacklewell Lane, Dalston, Vice-President of the Home For Aged Jews and Grand Vice-President and Acting President of the Jewish friendly society, Order Achei B'rith and Shield of Abraham.
