William was born on January 15th, 1844 in Finsbury, Middlesex and his christening took place on February 11th, 1844 in Saint Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London.1  William's father was Joseph Turvey and his mother was Ann Kennington.  His paternal grandparents were Solomon Turvey and Ann Willson; his maternal grandparents were John Kenington and Mary . He had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Joseph, John, Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth, Eliza and Fanny.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 53 in September 1897 in Hackney, Middlesex.2
