John was born on July 31st, 1838 in Finsbury, Middlesex and his christening took place on September 5th, 1838 in Saint Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London.1  John's father was Joseph Turvey and his mother was Ann Kennington.  His paternal grandparents were Solomon Turvey and Ann Willson; his maternal grandparents were John Kenington and Mary . He had three brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Joseph, William, Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth, Eliza and Fanny.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at 2 months old in September 1838 in Finsbury, Middlesex.2
