Mary was born in 1697 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on April 7th, 1697.1 2   Mary's father was Benjamin Piper and her mother was Barbara Dennett.  Her maternal grandparents were Johannis Dennett and Sivob Burratt. She had three brothers and a sister, named Benjamin, Robert, Joseph and Martha.  She was the third oldest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Sarah.
