Martha was born in 1692 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on June 9th, 1692.1 2   Martha's father was Benjamin Piper and her mother was Barbara Dennett.  Her maternal grandparents were Johannis Dennett and Sivob Burratt. She had three brothers and a sister, named Benjamin, Robert, Joseph and Mary.  She was the oldest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Sarah.
