Thomas was born in 1750 in Oakley, Hampshire and his christening took place there on December 30th, 1750.1 2   Thomas' father was William Oliver and his mother was Mary. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, John, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Hannah, Dinah and Esther.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
