Elizabeth was born in 1825 in Penzance, Cornwall.1   Elizabeth's father was Isaac Newton and her mother was Elizabeth Gendall.  Her paternal grandparents were William Newton and Frances Drew. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Alexander, Robert, Isaac, Fanny and Julia.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
