Charlotte was born in 1827 in Somerset.1   Charlotte's father was James Laver and her mother was Angel Cottle. She had a brother and four sisters, named Wiliam, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Sarah and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
