Eliza was born on January 4th, 1911 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex.1  Eliza's father was John Francis Horncastle and her mother was Emma Elizabeth Webb.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel John Horncastle and Elizabeth Howard Richardson. She had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Samuel, George, Edward, Emma, Caroline and Sophia.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 81 in January 1992 in Surrey North.2
