Martha was born on January 26th, 1848.  Martha's father was John Faber and her mother was Lucy Bengough.  Her maternal grandparents were Robert Bengough and Lucy Hasey. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Charles, George, John, Henry, Lucy, Mary, Emma, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.
