John was born in 1835.1   John's father was John Faber and his mother was Lucy Bengough.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Bengough and Lucy Hasey. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Charles, George, John, Henry, Lucy, Mary, Emma, Martha, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.
