Charles was born on February 12th, 1835 in Mile End, Middlesex and his christening took place on March 15th, 1835 in St Giles, Cripplegate, London.1 2   Charles' father was John Faber and his mother was Lucy Bengough.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Bengough and Lucy Hasey. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John, George, John, Henry, Lucy, Mary, Emma, Martha, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.
