George was born on May 12th, 1842.  George's father was John Faber and his mother was Lucy Bengough.  His maternal grandparents were Robert Bengough and Lucy Hasey. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Charles, John, Henry, Lucy, Mary, Emma, Martha, Sarah and Elizabeth.  He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.
