Elizabeth was born in September 1857.  Elizabeth's father was John Faber and her mother was Lucy Bengough.  Her maternal grandparents were Robert Bengough and Lucy Hasey. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Charles, George, John, Henry, Lucy, Mary, Emma, Martha and Sarah.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.
