Jane was born on April 2nd, 1811 in Harnham, Salisbury, Wiltshire.1   Jane's father was William Dear and her mother was Jane Parrick.  Her paternal grandparents were John Dear and Hannah Ryan. She had six brothers and a sister, named William, Thomas, James, Samuel, Henry, John and Mary.  She was the youngest of the eight children.
