Peter was born on November 9th, 1814 in Eling, Hampshire and his christening took place there on November 18th, 1814.1 2   Peter's father was Robert Bromfield and his mother was Ann Plomley. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, George, Henry, Frederick, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann and Ann.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
