Elizabeth was born in 1797 in Eling, Hampshire and her christening took place there on November 18th, 1797.1 2   Elizabeth's father was Robert Bromfield and her mother was Ann Plomley. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, George, Henry, Frederick, Peter, Mary, Ann and Ann.  She was the second oldest of the nine children.
