Thomas Charles Avis

Thomas was born in December 1840 in Newington, Surrey.¹ Thomas' father was Nathanial Avis and his mother was Elizabeth Whitlock. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Avis and Mary Chambers; his maternal grandparents were Joseph Whitlock and Christiana Durham. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, William, John, George, George, James, Elizabeth and Mary. He was the oldest of the nine children. He had a half-sister named Female.
