Rebecca was born in 1839 in Keyingham East Yorkshire and her baptism took place there on November 17th, 1839.1   Rebecca's father is William Garton and her mother is Hannah (Garton).  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Garton and Phebe Wilson. She has four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Charles, John, William, Mary Ann, Rose and George.  She is the third oldest of the eight children.
