George was born in 1851 in Keyingham East Yorkshire and her baptism took place there on September 28th, 1851.1   George's father is William Garton and her mother is Hannah (Garton).  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Garton and Phebe Wilson. She has four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Charles, John, William, Mary Ann, Rebecca and Rose.  She is the youngest of the eight children.
