Thomas, known as Halifax yard ipswich, was born on April 29th, 1828 in Wivenhoe.¹ Halifax yard ipswich's father was Thomas (Shipbuilder) Harvey and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Martin. His paternal grandparents were Robert Harvey and Susannah Ellingford; his maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Joseph, Edward, John, Shipwrights Arms West St and Caroline. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Fred, Mary and Sarah. He died at the age of 58 on January 13th, 1887 in Wivenhoe Essex England. His burial was in St Mary the Virgin Wivenhoe.¹
