William was born in June 1755 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on July 1st, 1755 at St Margaret's Barking.1   William's father was Henry Thredder and his mother was Jane Marchant.  His paternal grandfather is Henry Thredder (Fisherman) and his paternal grandmother was Jane Moungall (confirmed NicMoungal Will); his maternal grandparents are Thomas Marchant (Jnr) and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and a sister, named Henry, Henry, Nicholas, John, Joseph and Jane.  He was the youngest of the seven children.

William and Ann were married.  They had a daughter named Ann.
