John was born in February 1750 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on February 19th, 1750 at St Margaret's Barking.1   John's father was Henry Thredder and his mother was Jane Marchant.  His paternal grandfather is Henry Thredder (Fisherman) and his paternal grandmother was Jane Moungall (confirmed NicMoungal Will); his maternal grandparents are Thomas Marchant (Jnr) and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and a sister, named Henry, Henry, Nicholas, Joseph, William and Jane.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.
