Nicholas was born in October 1747 in Barking Essex and his christening took place on October 25th, 1747 at St Margaret's Barking.1   Nicholas' father was Henry Thredder and his mother was Jane Marchant.  His paternal grandfather is Henry Thredder (Fisherman) and his paternal grandmother was Jane Moungall (confirmed NicMoungal Will); his maternal grandparents are Thomas Marchant (Jnr) and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and a sister, named Henry, Henry, John, Joseph, William and Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
