Mary Ann Wade: "James Wade: (never called Jim) Born June 13, 1816 in Washinton County, Kentucky and died February 7, 1892 and is buried in St. Michael's Cemetery, Bogard Twp., Daviess County, Indiana. James married (1st) Mary Cook, whose family was from North Carolina. She was Protestant as was James at this time, and their seven children remained Protestant. In April of 1858, Mary Cook Wade died and in the same year James marries (2nd) Nancy Queen. She was Catholic, born May 11, 1833 and died October 15, 1910. They became parents of eight children. More data on this family in my files. His grand-daughter, Mrs. Julia Wade Proctor, daughter of William Wade was still living in Plainville, Indiana at age 84 in 1966."
bio: JAMES BREWER, a prominent farmer of Daviess County, Ind., is a son of Evan and Ellen (Brewer) Wade, and was born Washington County, Ky., on June 13, 1816. He was brought to Indiana when only five years old, and lived with his parents in Lawrence County until 1837, and then came to Daviess County. He was raised on a farm and obtained his education in the old log schoolhouse of primitive days. After his marriage, January 28, 1840, he resided for some time near where he now lives, but for a number of years later lived in various parts of Indiana, but finally located on his present farm, where he has resided forty-one years [i.e., since est. 1845]. He has been very successful and owns 160 acres of very fine land. He was married to Mary Cook, a native of North Carolina, who bore him seven children, these four of whom are living: William H., Harriett, Evan and Green. His wife died in 1857, and April 13, [Note: James' brother Benedict Joseph's first wife was Malinda COOK. CMB] In 1858, he wedded Nancy Queen. To them were born eight children, six now living: Alfred P., Mary A., Sarah E., James M., Thomas D. and Martha J. The family are members of the Catholic Church. Mr. Wade is a Democrat, and a prominent man and a highly respected citizen of the county.
