received one s(hilling) from father John LEAKE in his will (qvl)
another researcher's musings on this point: Here is the will of John Leake, Innholder. Looking at dates and the fact that Mary Leake, wife of John Leake, is mentioned in the will of James French in 1733, I think it more likely that Mary French m. the younger John Leake mentioned here. The children credited to Mary and John Leake are mentioned here as well, and likely children of the elder John and wife Catherine, though the younger John may have named children the same. If you notice daughter, Mary Brewer 1 shilling, it is likely because she married a Catholic-Richard Brewer. My interpretation of the will, also, is that younger John Leake's inheritance was somewhat deminished. Is that because he too married a Catholic??
