Source: the father of five children recorded in 2nd Dunboe Presbyterian Church baptismal register.
BB found his Civil Birth at Emerald Ancestor, which is where the middle name of Moore came from. The record shows he was born in Dunalis.
Found a Civil Record of his marriage on the Derry Genealogy Centre Index. The record showed his father was indeed a Samuel McClamont and his witness was a Sarah Henry (oddly, his sister is married to a Henry Clarke and she witnessed his brother, John's marriage - the other witness was a James McNeill). He was a labourer as was his father. His residence at time of marriage was given as Ballintere.
He was still in Ballinteer when his mother died in 1897.
There is no sign of any McClementses living in Ballinteer North or Ballinteer South in the 1901 census even though Jane Finaly McClements died in Ballinteer with her son, David PAD, in 1897.
(BG: This next bit I now know to be wrong but I have kept it as it may be another David McClements also in my family.)
David may have married twice because BB found this Civil Marriage at Emerald Ancestors:
Record Type Civil Marriage
> Date of Marriage 01 Jan 1903
> Groom Name david MCLAMONT
> Bride Name jeannie STEEN
> Church Ringsend Presbyterian Church
> Parish Aghadowey
> Civil District Coleraine
> County Londonderry
And if this IS the same David, did he marry a cousin bearing in mind that his brother is called Samuel Steen McClements! There is a civil record of the death of a Mary McClements in 1901, so David was very probably widowed and did remarry.
BG: I know it is wrong because I have David and Mary Jane in the 1911 Census, married 16 years.)
1901 Census (check out the spelling of McClements this time!!!):

I now have 14 spellings of my grandmother's name. When you check the Form A, that is actually how David spelled it! It is not a case of him being illiterate and some clown writing it down how he heard it.
