William's father was Bryce Wright and his mother was Jean Turner.  His maternal grandparents were Peter Turner Sr. and Mary Russell. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert, Peter, John, Bryce, James and Mary.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 34 on October 28th, 1887 in Dailly.  He was buried in Girvan.^2 2
