James' father was Bryce Wright and his mother was Jean Turner.  His maternal grandparents were Peter Turner Sr. and Mary Russell. He had five brothers and a sister, named Robert, Peter, William, John, Bryce and Mary.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 30 on September 3rd, 1890 in Kirkoswald.  He was buried in Girvan.^3 4 5
