Peter was born on May 27th, 1857 in Old Kilpatrick. Peter's father was William Turner and his mother was Jessie Calder.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Turner Sr. and Mary Russell. He had a brother and seven sisters, named John, Ina, Mary, Eliza, Jessie, Jane, Agnes and Eliza.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 1 in 1858 in Cardross.
