William Thomson

William was born on December 15th, 1795 in Bathgate and his baptism took place there on January 1st, 1796.^1 2

William's father was James Thomson and his mother was Mary Bruce.  His maternal grandparents were William Bruce and Janet Newlands. He had four brothers and five sisters, named John, George, James, Archibald, Janet, Margaret, Mary, Catherine and Janet.  He was the third oldest of the ten children.  He died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, pneumonia, duration 6 weeks; bronchitis, duration 4 weeks, at the age of 73 on September 6th, 1869 in Paddockhall farm.  He was buried on September 10th, 1869 in Bathgate.^3 4 5
