Silvester was born in August 1853 in Angus and his baptism took place on August 14th, 1853 in Dundee.^1 2

Silvester's father was David Rollo and his mother was Agnes Brash.  His maternal grandparents were David Brash and Agnes Henderson. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, George, Nornan, Caroline, Jenny and Jessie.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 60 in 1913 in Alloa.
