Nornan's father was David Rollo and his mother was Agnes Brash.  His maternal grandparents were David Brash and Agnes Henderson. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Silvester, George, Caroline, Jenny and Jessie.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 71 in 1929 in Perth.
