Caroline's father was David Rollo and her mother was Agnes Brash.  Her maternal grandparents were David Brash and Agnes Henderson. She had four brothers and two sisters, named David, Silvester, George, Nornan, Jenny and Jessie.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 88 in 1937 in Mauchline.
