Annie's father was Jonathan Robertson and her mother was Helen Tait. Her paternal grandparents were James Robertson and Ann McMurran. She had six brothers and five sisters, named James, George, John, Hugh, Robert, Edmund, Catherine, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary and Susan. She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 71 in 1951 in Gorbals.
