Thomas' father was William McBarron and his mother was Annie Robertson. His paternal grandparents were Thomas McBarron and Martha Welsh; his maternal grandparents were David Robertson and Mary Eaglesome Smith Frew. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Patrick, William, George, James, Annie, Martha, Mary and Martha. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had three half-brothers named Alexander, Walter and Alexander. He died as a war casualty at the age of 19 on July 2nd, 1916 in Iraq. He was buried in Iraq.²³
