Jeanie's father was David Leithhead and her mother was Christina McGregor Robertson. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas John Robertson and Catherine Cameron. She had a brother and nine sisters, named Thomas, Mary, Bessie, Christina, Margaret, Jessie, Annie, Davidina, Agnes and Harriet. She was the second youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 58 in 1943 in Glasgow.
