George's father was William Dick and his mother was Sibella Brash.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Dick and Janet Smeal; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Brash and Janet Crawford. He had a brother and two sisters, named William, Jessie and Sibella.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Robert, Agnes, Jessie and Jane.  He died at the age of 46 on August 19th, 1905 in Glasgow.
