Jane's father was William Dick and her mother was Jean Spiers Brash.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Dick and Janet Smeal; her maternal grandparents were David Brash and Agnes Henderson. She had a brother and two sisters, named Robert, Agnes and Jessie.  She was the youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, George, Jessie and Sibella.  She died at the age of 77 on March 4th, 1923 in Edinburgh.
