Alexander's father was David Brash and his mother was Margaret Easton. He had a brother and four sisters, named David, Margaret, Magdalene, Jean and Elisabeth.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 58 on October 30th, 1838 in Leith.¹
