James Baxter 
James was born in 1837 in Uphall.1 2 James' father was John Sommers Baxter and his mother was Janet Law. His paternal grandparents were Ronald Baxter and Isabella Erskine. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Ronald, Baxter, Robert, Thomas, Isabella, Mary and Janet. He was the second youngest of the nine children.-
