Hester Ann was born on November 13th, 1824.  Hester Ann's father was James M. Marshall and her mother was Margaret M. Stipp.  Her paternal grandparents were William Marshall and Mary C. Banes. She had three brothers and a sister, named William Abraham, James Phineas, John M. and Susan Mary.  She was the second oldest of the five children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Mason, Thomas, Margaret, Sara and Rosa E..  She died at the age of 76 on April 28th, 1901.
