John was born in 1765.  John's father was Col Alexander TRADER Lowrey and his mother was Mary Waters (Native American).  His paternal grandparents were Lazarus Lowrey and Elizabeth Campbell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Alexander, David, Lazarus, Elizabeth, Mary and Margaret.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 16 in 1781.
