David was born about 1758.  David's father was Col Alexander TRADER Lowrey and his mother was Mary Waters (Native American).  His paternal grandparents were Lazarus Lowrey and Elizabeth Campbell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Alexander, Lazarus, John, Elizabeth, Mary and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
