Alexander was born in 1756.  Alexander's father was Col Alexander TRADER Lowrey and his mother was Mary Waters (Native American).  His paternal grandparents were Lazarus Lowrey and Elizabeth Campbell. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Lazarus, John, Elizabeth, Mary and Margaret.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 39 in 1795.
