Samuel was born in 1744 in County Down, Ireland.  Samuel's father was Hugh Bingham and his mother was Martha Jane Armour.  His paternal grandparents are Richard Bingham and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were John Armour and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Robert, Hugh, Thomas, William Bingham Biggam, Elizabeth, Agnes, Jane and Mary.  He was the seventh oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 57 in 1801.
